Roelvin - Italian wine
About Roelvin
My name is Antonella Moschetti. I was born and raised in Italy. I came to the Netherlands after I met my husband, who is Dutch, and I have been living in the Netherlands since 2000.
My hobby has always been and still is cookery, but this became a real challenge when I came to the Netherlands. I had problems finding particular fresh ingredients which we use in Italy for our dishes, but did however discover other vegetables and ingredients from the Netherlands which awakened my curiosity. As both my daughter and I suffer from coeliac disease, we are both on a gluten-free diet However, apart from the special gluten-free beer I have in the fridge and the bread I make with my special bread machine, nobody at home would notice that we are eating gluten-free. You can understand already that eating and drinking in a conscious way are important to me - AND ........ wine is gluten-free......!
I started ROELVIN on 1st May 2007 when we began to import and sell a selection of Italian wines in the Netherlands and Belgium. The name ROELVIN is a pun using our family name . For me this has a unique meaning as I left Italy to come to far away Nordic country. I am originally from Milan and the word 'vin' means wine in the Milanese dialect, similar to the French word 'vin'.
During the time I have lived in the Netherlands, I have learned a lot about the 'way of life' and the food and drink culture in the Netherlands, and I finally decided to do something for my country of birth, Italy. And what apart from pasta and coffee is more typical of Italy than wine? As I grew up in Italy I did so with the culture of food and wine. Wine is a part of our every day meals and exists in as many different types and flavours as villages in Italy. During holidays and weekend trips we would always drink the local wines, wine which were in perfect harmony with the particular food of the region and which emphasised its flavours and aromas. And let?s be honest, what is more tasty than a wonderful piece of red meat, a delicious pheasant or a brasato with a good glass of Barolo, an Osso Buco with a delicious Dolcetto d'Alba, salmon or 'coniglio in salmi' with a Pinot Nero or a delicious 'frutti di mare' with a Vermentino or an inzolia?
Quality wines from Italy
Roelvin has made it its mission to import quality wines from Italy. There are still a lot of smaller and medium sized wine producers which are unknown in the Nordic countries. What a waste ! For me there is no such thing as market saturation. Despite having a large choice of good wines coming from all the different wine producing countries, there are still so many Italian wines that deserve to be discovered and tasted. Roelvin would like to help you in this discovery.
I was able to start up Roelvin through the help of a number of Italian friends who are all active in the wine business. For Italians it is a real honour to show to our Nordic countries the quality and know-how we have built up over centuries, the enormous diversity of taste due to the different grape types used, the composition of the soil and differences in climate that all contribute to its diversity. Roelvin has begun with a number of high quality wines in its on-line wine shop and we want you to enjoy these wines as much as we do. I use the knowledge and expertise of wine specialists, as well in Italy as in the Netherlands, because when it comes to taste you can't argue but you can learn a lot.
A big kiss to my aunt Frieda and my nephew Bob, who have selflessly dedicated so much time in helping me make Roelvin the professional organisation it is. I see our website www.roelvin.eu as the most important means of keeping in contact with you all. These days there is a computer in almost every home, so on-line shopping has become one of the most important ways of buying and selling in our countries.
Other activities of Roelvin are:
- Wine tasting
- Selecting individual gifts for your clients, employees and other business associates
- Developing personalised hampers and other wine-inspired gifts
- Providing support and assistance for catering during exhibitions and private parties
This website has been developed by Huizinga Hosting & Webdesign. My beautiful logo has been designed by Marco Arioli, and lastly a big hug to my good friend Umberto Passannante who has made this all possible.
Alla salute.........
